Hi everyone! I hadn't blogged much lately. It's been busy! To begin with; EMCA lost the State Championship. They played a good game; the flu had been messing with several of the girls. It is an honor for them to be first runners-up in the State. They were sad and cried; but were excited knowing what they had accomplished. I'm so proud of each girl. They have truly been a "team". Cheerleading is over ... Basketball is now over ... what do we do with our time now? Well, I've gotten to cook more. Ashlyn is home earlier; I know ... AMERICAN IDOL!! Ashlyn & I are hooked. We already have some favorites. We'll wait and see how they do.
I got a call from my Aunt last week. My Granny Vines is in an assisted living home. It's so nice, they take such great care of them. Granny and a friend (lady) went to the Valentines Dance. Now, let me stop right here ... no Vines from the older generations have EVER danced OK? A few from the younger generation ... maybe :) Granny didn't dance she proudly told me and rather indignant; BUT she went and had fun. She was voted "Best Eyes" and first runner-up in the "Miss Cottage Landing" pageant. I had to hear this for myself. I called my Grandmother; she was giddy with excitement. She'll be 94 in May. She was so tickled; we cut up with her a good bit about this. I'm going to see her soon; I'll post some pictures of that visit.
Ashlyn & I are so excited; we are going to see Brittney up at school. We are so excited. Brittney is making big plans for our time. We look forward to seeing our girl! Pix coming soon!
We live in the Prattville area and our sweet city made the national news this week with the tornados that came through. We knew heading out to church on Sunday that bad weather was coming; but we had no idea what would lay in store for Prattville. That Sunday afternoon we were glued to the TV watching the weather. WSFA in Montgomery did an outstanding job keeping us informed. We called Ashlyn in to be with us (you want your cubs near). The winds began picking up, bad rain, some hail. We knew where we were to go in case ... The news began telling that a tornado had grounded in Prattville. We began seeing pictures on TV of areas where we knew several people. We were so sick. From phone calls beginning from staff - we knew many people in our church had either had minimal damage to having lost everything. It's been a week. Our staff men have been on the grounds all week ministering to people; cooking; passing out food, cutting down trees, prayer, whatever has been needed. My sweet Man has come home so tired and burdened. Much is to be done and we'll get to help these sweet people more as they begin again. No one was killed and it looks like a war zone literally. It's been so humbling to me personally to hear/talk/see friends who have lost and they still praise the Lord, realizing that things can be replaced; loved ones could not. I am humbled and it has made me want to live even closer to the Lord. Please pray for Prattville; clean-up has begun and will take a while.
That's all for now. May God richly bless you. He has us.
